Payroll Assistant (Bureau)

HSKS Greenhalgh are a Midlands based independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors who specialise in working with high net worth individuals, entrepreneurs and growing owner-managed businesses.

Our payroll team is growing and, to keep up with client demand, we are looking for an experienced full time Payroll Bureau Assistant to work in our Derby office on Pride Park.

If you are an experienced Payroll Assistant, who is either CIPP qualified or looking to complete their CIPP, this role could be for you.

What you’ll do

You will be working as part of the payroll team and you will be responsible for processing payroll to a high standard, managing the process from start to finish, including:

  • The day-to day administration of weekly and monthly client payrolls including administering RTI submissions and processing end of year forms P60;
  • Sending BACS payments on behalf of clients 
  • Calculating benefits and producing P11ds and submitting to HMRC
  • Proactively carrying out payroll reconciliations and analysis with no supervision
  • Using your own initiative to resolve issues and to assist the team where possible, by providing a range of solutions and seeking advice where necessary
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external contacts at all levels
  • Working with other internal teams, understanding the services that are being provided to our clients (and not just payroll)

What you’ll need to succeed

You should have:

  • Knowledge of PAYE/NIC and statutory payments eg redundancy, SMP/SAP, SPP and SSP when running client payrolls
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment enquiries/setting up Auto Enrolment pension schemes
  • Experience of working within a busy environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills, including excel
  • Experience of using Star payroll software (although this is not essential as training will be given)
