Food and Drink's Finest Toast To Their Success

The crème de la crème of Derbyshire’s food and drink venues are celebrating after being crowned winners at a prestigious awards ceremony, which was sponsored by Greenhalgh Accountants & Business Advisors.

 

Derbyshire Food and Drink Awards, organised by the county council, were held last night (Monday 8 November) at Thornbridge Hall, Ashford-in-the-Water where the winners in the seven categories were announced along with those receiving a highly commended accolade.

The awards, in their eighth year, aim to find the best of Derbyshire’s eateries and establishments.  They are judged on a number of criteria including the quality of food and drink, use of county produce and acknowledgement of it on menus as well as customer service.

 

The winners were announced at a dinner and ceremony.  They are:               

Restaurant     

Winner - The Peacock, Rowsley, near Bakewell

Highly commended - East Lodge, Rowsley, near Bakewell                    

 

Gastro Pub      

Winner - The Devonshire Arms, Beeley, near Chatsworth

Highly commended - Chequers Inn, Froggatt, near Bakewell

 

Traditional Pub

Winner - The Royal Oak, Hurdlow, near Buxton

Highly commended - The Elm Tree, Elmton, near Clowne                                          

International Restaurant

Joint winners - Nonna’s, Chesterfield and Le Mistral, Bakewell

Highly commended - Va Bene, Glossop                                    

 

Tea room/Coffee House

Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor Simon Spencer, said: “The food and drink sector is really important to the Derbyshire economy and it was wonderful to recognise so many talented people.”
